Barton Rovers 0 Hanwell Town 1

Match report by Bob Fisher
We produced arguably our best performance of the season in an excellent game at Barton Rovers that was a credit to both sides.
Due to the unavailability of Tom Kennedy, Tom Hunt and Ryan Egan, Lee Grace came in at full back for his full debut whilst Danilson Vincente replaced Gavin Hinds-Cadette.
We made a terrific start and a flowing movement in the very first minute culminated with Oliver Duffy firing a shot inches wide of the far post. Oliver then sent a terrific ball into the path of Danilson sending him through on goal but his first touch let him down and his shot was blocked. An even better movement, set up Bradley Simmonds into a similar position from which he rifled home a goal against North Greenford United, but inexplicably in the muddy conditions tried to chip the advancing keeper but only succeeded in lifting the ball straight into the keepers arms. At this stage of the game it seemed only a matter of time before we took the lead but Danilson squandered another great chance firing hopelessly wide as he raced clear of the Barton back line. Having survived this opening period, Barton began to get a foot in the game playing some neat football themselves and a shot from distance by James Bishop flew just over Martin's crossbar. Two minutes later Martin was down swiftly to deny Bishop at his near post. Marin then fumbled a corner kick by Joe Reynolds but Ryan Kinnane who was a tower of strength in the centre of our defence with Tom Duffy cleared the ball to safety. On the stroke of half time, Martin made a tremendous close range save from Alex O'Brien as he turned Bishop's low cross goal wards.
The second half continued with play flowing from end to end as the conditions became heavier and heavier and there were early chances at both ends, Tom having a header from close range blocked and then a good effort by Barton's Matt Nolan went just wide. Barton's keeper Kyle Forster then made a terrific save to turn Bradley's shot around the post. With twenty minutes to go we were awarded a penalty. A cross field ball by Bradley picked out the indefatigable Tom Inch racing through from midfield. Tom was brought down by the onrushing Forster as he raced out of his goal and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Michael Buckley fired the ball goalwards but Forster redeemed himself with a great save diving to his right. As the minutes ticked away, both sides made substitutions. Ahmed Mohammed and Gavin Hinds-Cadette replacing the injured Ince and Danilson for us. As the game moved into injury time, it seemed that a point a side was going to be the eventual outcome but from a free kick midway into the Barton half, Michael launched the ball into the goalmouth where Tom saw his header blocked by Forster but followed up to rifle the ball into the net via the underside of the crossbar to secure a thoroughly deserved three points in which evrybody played their part.
Side: Martin Herdman, Calum Duffy, Lee Grace, Tom Duffy, Ryan Kinnane, Tom Inch, Simeon Armstrong, Oliver Duffy, Danilson Vincente, Michael Buckley and Bradley Simmonds. Substitutes Ahmed Mohammed for Inch (72) and Gavin Hinds-Cadette for Vincente (88). Unused substitute Joe Chandiram.
